Soaring In As Adamson’s New Head Coach, Nash Racela

Adamson University is set to have a busy year in the Academic Year 2022 - 2023 because not only is the college hosting the 85th Season of UAAP, but they have obtained key pieces in their Men’s Basketball team, the Adamson University Soaring Falcons, particularly in their new head coach, Nash Racela.

This is not Coach Racela’s first time in the collegiate scene, with his last appearance being the coach that led Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws to a championship back in 2015 during UAAP Season 78. Afterward, he began his career as the head coach of PBA’s Blackwater Bossing but was still a consultant for the Tamaraws during that time for his brother Olsen.

According to Spin.ph and their sources, Coach Racela has been speculated since last September as being the one to fill in the position that was left by Coach Franz Pumaren, with other candidates being Eric Altamirano or former Alaska Sean Chambers.

But after deliberation from the priests in charge of Adamson, shortlisted Chambers to choose between Coach Racela and Altamirano. It was then confirmed by Spin.ph’s sources on October 13, 2021, that Coach Racela was the final decision for the Soaring Falcons after all.

Coach Racela will have pressure on his plate from the start of Season 85, coming off from the professional scene and given a team with its previous core gone elsewhere. Adamsonian fans are expecting to see a brand new Soaring Falcons with a different playstyle from one they were accustomed to.

Until then, Adamsonians can only expect the best from Coach Racela to not only embrace the San Marcelino culture of “Klasmeyt” comradery but be able to quench the drought of a UAAP Championship for Adamson University.
