The Adamson University Lady Falcons lashed Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, taking a 22-25, 25-9, 25-18, 25-18 for their third straight victory in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 84 Women’s Volleyball tournament, Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Lady Falcons had a slow start in the first set, but Lucille Almonte led the game with 17 pts, 16 attacks, one ace, and 11 excellent digs, while Kate Santiago only played in three sets but delivered 14 points.
Donning her magic headband, team setter and playmaker Louie Romero remained dangerous as she tossed 22 excellent sets along with a spike. At the same time, Trisha Genesis helped with the damage with 11 points and seven excellent receptions.
After losing the first set, the Giron-based squad butchered the Tamaraws and unleashed a devastating 16-point lead in the second frame to equalize the match before taking the game.
“Malaking factor is yung pasa kasi kahit gaano kagaling yung setter natin and yung mga spikers natin e ang nagsisimula ang first ball talaga sa pasa so I think yun yung nabalik and nag gain ng momentum so ayun, awa ng Diyos nagtuloy tuloy na,”(The passing is a big factor that no matter how good our setter and spikers are everything starts with the first ball. Their momentum came back when the first ball became consistent.) said by Giron in regards on the team’s turnaround in the first set.
