VPAA, VPSA releases joint memo on students’ ‘breathing space’ break

Adamson students are set to have a four-day academic break after the University announced a four-day “breathing space” break on October 28.

In a memorandum issued by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA), both synchronous and asynchronous classes were suspended from October 30 to November 2 in consideration for Adamsonians' mental well-being.

“Recognizing the need of our students for a mental health break to sustain their well-being, no synchronous and asynchronous classes or activities in all levels will be held…” the memo read.

The memorandum was a revision of the previous announcement signed by VPAA Dr. Catherine Castaneda and VPSA Fr. Andrew S. Bayal C.M..

The announcement stated that there will be no synchronous classes to be held on the said dates while asynchronous activities to be given must be moderate to minimal.

“Faculty members are strongly advised to give moderate to minimal asynchronous activities or assignments, only if deemed indispensable,” the announcement stated.

Moreover, webinars from the Recognized Student Organizations and the Office for Student Affairs or concerned Departments or Colleges scheduled on October 30 to 31 may still resume, but participation is said to be voluntary.

Meanwhile, online classes will resume on November 3, Tuesday.
