AdU fulfills 10th Falcon Run

After getting canceled due to the pandemic since 2020, the Adamson University Office for Institutional Advancement finally held its 10th Falcon Run at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Pasay City— about 3,500 participants ran the route on February 18.

Falcon Run is one of the most-anticipated events during foundation week to raise funds for the scholarship program.

Students from Basic Education up to college, the university’s faculty employees, alumni, and parents ran for three or five kilometers.

Janeth Barquilla, the event’s fundraising coordinator, said the proceeds would not only be for the university’s athletes.

“For all— OSGP [Ozanam Study Grant Program], student assistants, yung mga (the) athletes, at yung (and the)… Meron kasi tayong Bridge Program (We have the Bridge Program), alam ko pumapasok din yun doon (I know that it is also included there),” she said.

Barquilla mentioned that participants also benefited from the fundraising event besides helping fellow Klasmeyts.

“It’s for their health and wellness, so yung pagtakbo naman, syempre, makakatulong yun sa paglakas ng katawan mo (It’s for their health and wellness, so running, of course, can help to strengthen your body),” Barquilla said.

“Hindi lang sa nag spend ka ng [money], para maging healthy ka rin, hindi palagi kang naka gadgets. At least nakapag exercise ka nung araw na yun (It’s not just you spending money; it’s for you to be healthy too, not only to use gadgets. At least you exercised on that day),” she added.

Despite being a fun run, first to third placers were acknowledged with cash prizes. Moreover, all attendees could enter a raffle and win gadgets.

After the run proper, guest artist Teri Onor and the Adamson Pep Squad entertained participants.

Experiences from the COMMunity

Pauline Batica of AMC 101 said the Falcon Run surprised her after attending the event exhausted from a prior event at the university.

“I was delighted at that time when I saw Falcon's faces, who were truly enjoying the moment behind the sweaty feeling that everyone felt… I'm grateful that I accomplished this safely in my very first year in college, and it allowed me to at least pitch in as already part of this community,” she said.

Shaira Santillas of AMC 201 felt she gained a stronger bond with her friends after attending the event.

“It benefited me in a way that we made a new memory,” she shared.

Naomi Salditos of AMC 201 rated the overall event a 10, for it started and ended with a positive vibe.

“With the music and the professors dancing and just the overall excitement that was building up from the get-go,” she said.

Furthermore, Salditos noted that the view was the best part of the run, among many things.

“I guess it made it extra memorable because of the sunset and the fresh breeze of air, or maybe it was the energetic cheer of my fellow Klasmeyts as we reached a milestone throughout the track,” she stated.
