The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) implemented an academic ease from April 7 to 10, in line with the surge of COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila.
“With Metro Manila being placed under another period of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), we empathize with the need to ease academic requirements in the midst of such a non-conducive climate,” VPAA Catherine Castañeda said in the memorandum.
The coursework mitigation week gave the students and faculty personnel a short break from academic loads as synchronous classes will be postponed, except for critical courses (i.e. board exam classes, review classes).
In addition, activities and requirements that are due within the said week are moved to be submitted by the end of April 2021.
Meanwhile, quizzes and new discussions must be lessened, according to the memorandum.
Students who are infected or living with family members who are affected by COVID-19 may request for an “Excused Absence due to COVID-19”.
“They shall be allowed to take special examinations and submit make-up requirements. Students are advised to contact their respective deans and/or chairpersons and the Hea[l]th Services Office in case of Covid-19 infection, for information and monitoring purposes,” the VPAA added.
The VPAA then ensured that compassionate education is shown to the students, and called for faculties to show care, listen, and adjust to the students’ condition and situation.
Moreover, the scheduled Midterm examinations this week is proceeded as previously announced.
