SOGA 2022: Highlights of Plans and Accomplishments made by AUSG

In times of uncertainty, it is indeed one’s right to demand answers from the authorities.

Mr. Jason Alejandro P. Marfori, the president of Adamson University’s Student Government, delivered his speech addressing their achievements and proposed plans for their fellow Klasmeyts, in a Zoom event called “Statement of the Government Address” last February 18.

The event was welcomed with an opening remark from the AUSG adviser Atty. Jan Nelin Navallasca, followed by an empowering message from Philippine Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” G. Robredo.

Self-expression comes in various forms, including different hair dyes. To wear their favorite color surely boosts the students’ morale, as said by the AUSG president. Considering that the school is run by Catholics and priests, the AUSG assured that the raised concern is in an ongoing negotiation with the administration.

Marfori also gave an update regarding the plans for physical classes. As per the “plan,” it advocates hybrid learning [a mixture of digital and on-campus teaching] to leave no students behind. Still, the final decision lies with the admins.

Given the pandemic, their programs for community engagement, exposures with urban poor derived from the Red Cross: Lovingly Youth program, unfortunately, could not carry out and bring into action no matter how concrete it was.

Meanwhile, in accommodating financially struggling students, they are planning to spend the budget from the organization’s fund in spite of it not being able to cater to all students due to limited allocations.

For this coming May elections, the AUSG, is highly encouraging the students to attend the voters' education forum and participate in the issue-based mock elections, specifically designed for undecided ones, which will be held on March 26.

There is also a brief discussion about the history, terms, principles, and objectives of parliamentary procedures done by Ms. Dionessa Bustamante, a professor under the Social Science Department.
