5 Ways to Say I Love You

As the month of February passes by, love fills the air even more. The hearts on wall decorations, hanging cupids, flower bouquets, and stuffed animals all around, especially during Valentine’s day make you think further about how it is to love and to be loved genuinely and how we can express it.

Conveying our love can be done in different forms, and here are some ways how that love can come across to your loved ones:

Shower them with words of affirmation

Expressing your love for them does not always mean saying those three words. You can also express your love by showering them with kind words like “You did a great job,” “I am proud of you,” or “I am grateful for your existence.”

Or rather than saying it upfront, a heartfelt letter filled with your sincerest thoughts and emotions is also an option that will undoubtedly make them feel warm.

Allot quality time together

As people say, time is of great importance, so allotting a portion of your day and spending it together can make them feel more loved. You can actively spend time with each other on spontaneous trips or dates. A simple “Kape tayo” to ask them out or visit your favorite spots can be a breather for both of you and a good bonding moment.

Staying indoors while doing your hobbies, watching movies, or simply having meaningful conversations are also good ways to spend time and connect.

Don’t forget to put down your phones to avoid distractions and maximize your time together to make it even more meaningful!

Express love through physical intimacy

Not all of us are confident with how we express ourselves through words, but sitting together comfortably in silence while holding their hand can already mean a lot. Or if they are having a hard time, you can simply caress their back to make them feel accompanied.

And, of course, hugs! Hug them tight, pat their head, pat their back, or make any gesture that they consent to that will surely make them feel comfortable and appreciated. Don’t hold back. Just wrap and squish them into your loving arms.

Make them feel special by gift giving

Gifts can be considered something precious because there is always a symbolic thought behind them. “This item reminds me of him,” or “She will surely like this,” are just some of the meaningful thoughts behind gift giving.

The thrill of buying gifts and anticipating their reaction is nerve-wracking yet satisfying. Who wouldn’t be excited to see someone’s face lighting up while unwrapping and receiving an item from their to-buy list?

Well, it does not have to be grand because, indeed, it is always the thought that counts!

Make kind and thoughtful gestures for them

Actions speak louder than words, as they say, so you might want to go the extra mile to make them feel loved. Helping them do specific workloads, cooking their favorite meal, or accompanying them when running errands will surely leave them moved.

Checking up on them, especially during hectic days, or a simple “Sunduin kita,” are also ways to reassure them that they are loved and cared for.

No matter how small or big the gesture is, it will probably still convey your love and affection.

You can always choose to express your love for others even if it’s not February because love is something precious that we wouldn’t want to take for granted. So let’s express our ILYs before it becomes our TOTGA and IMYs, shall we?
