The Creative Communicators Society (CREACOMM) conducts this year’s annual Communications Department General Assembly (GA) online, similar to the previous year, with the theme “DO.SErve: 12 Year Throwback 2010-2022,” via Zoom on November 12.
For CREACOMM President Hannah Leriorato, the theme for this year’s GA, DO.SErve, is inspired by the celebration of the 12-year anniversary of the Communications Department and the years where choose to do and serve for the department.
“The theme for this year’s GA is ‘DO.SErve,’ which is also the 12th year anniversary celebration of the Communication Department. That is why we took the theme as an opportunity to display nostalgia through the presentations, performances, and school tours by the host during the event to take the students down memory lane,” she said.
After two years of online classes, Leriorato also wished to empower the community to move out of their comfort zone now that Hybrid classes are ongoing.
“We also hoped to encourage the COMMunity to step out of their comfort zone and create new memories this school year,” she explained.
Communications Chairperson Ailene Ayson shared that this year’s GA also aimed to inform the students about the AdU Website, present the Communications Department Faculty, and showcase the department's excellence through academics.
“ [The goals of this assembly were] to let the students know the info that can be gleaned from the AdU website, introduce the faculty of the department and to be familiar with the leaders of CREA and Adhoc heads, and to give recognition to the achievers of SY 2021 - 2022,” she said.
At least 130 students registered for the event, while more than 90 students attended via Zoom, including Nicole Borja of AMC101, who said the GA was engaging despite the setup.
“For me, it was very interactive despite it being online. The hosts and speakers made sure to constantly interact with the audience accordingly,” she said.
Milez Lorenzo of AMC301 also enjoyed the interactive concept and praised the performances from G-Circle.
“It was fun. I love the concept of the hosts touring us to the media rooms that we can use. Although it was held online, they still managed to do it smoothly. Plus, the performances of G-Circle made it interactive,” she said.
This year’s GA was more fun for Dominic Danao of AMC301 as he could see his talented batchmates and wishes to see more of the performances for future events.
“The program went well, and this year, I must say that I had so much [fun] compared to the past General Assembly. It was a great experience also seeing how talented my classmates are, and I hope to see them again in the next general assembly,” he expressed.
According to Kryska of AMC201, she wishes to see more details about the organizations that were presented during the event.
“I would like to see more information about the other communication heads, like giving additional information about those organizations and the professors that lead that org,” she said.
Meanwhile, Kiala Caigas of AMC201 stated that she hopes to attend the event face-to-face next school year.
“My wish for next year is that the GA would now be held in the university so that we could have more fun and get to know one another in our communication family,” she said.
When asked about the possibility of conducting a face-to-face general assembly, Ayson confirmed that it would be the plan for next year.
“Yes, definitely. Actually, that's the target for the dept events scheduled next semester,” she said.
