COMM freshmen express excitement over first week of class amidst online setup

Despite the online class setup, freshmen Communication Arts students of Adamson University expressed enthusiasm as the new school year kicked off on August 17.

For Alexander Burwell of AMC 102, his blockmates and teachers contributed to his great first week as an AdU student.

“Because my blockmates are so friendly and easy to get along with, I had a great first week as an Adamson student. Professors are also extremely aware of the students' needs, and their terms and conditions were very agreeable to me,” he said.

Jezel Hope Makiling of AMC 102 shared that it was not as stressful compared to face to face classes.

“It wasn't nerve-wracking, like how the first day of class on a face to face setting would be. It was fun, but of course we still wish to get a chance to meet our classmates and instructors face to face,” she stated.

Cess Gozos of AMC 101 said that her expectations were met with the class environment and the teachers.

“I expected our class to be comfortable and have a competent teaching staff, despite the fact that we’re in an online class. All of this occurred,” Gozos said.

Lexter Reyes of AMC 101 said that he did not have a hard time adjusting to the online setup, but on the BlackBoard learning instead.

“I would have to say no because I’ve been in an online class setup since I was Senior High School…However, we only used Google classroom and google meet as a mode of learning, and we didn’t have blackboard so I’m having a hard time using it” he stated.

Marianne Tabara of AMC 103 also stated that she has adjusted to the online class setup but emphasized the changes between online and traditional classes.

“Since this is our second year of conducting online classes, I am kind of used to it, but we can never change the fact that there are a lot of changes and disadvantages compared to the traditional face to face classes,” Tabara said.

On the other hand, some students may still have a hard time with online classes like Camille Correa who thought that she will have a hard time meeting deadlines.

“I think I will have a hard time when it's time to answer exams, pass requirements, meet deadlines but I'll do my best to surpass all these challenges even through the pandemic,” she said.

Meanwhile, Creative Communicators Society President Nitz Tan also expressed her excitement towards the increased Communication student enrollees.

“I couldn't be (gladder) that the number of enrollees have increased for this school year. I was a bit worried we might have lesser freshies due to the effects of the pandemic. I know students would prefer to study in much cheaper universities,” she said.

Compared to the previous school year, there are three block sections for the Communication Arts freshmen in the current academic year.
