AUSG holds second Falcon Fete event online

The Adamson University Student Government (AUSG) launched this year’s virtual concert, Falcon Fete 2022, with the theme “Levitate: Through Grit and Grace”, held via Zoom and Facebook Live on April 8.

The Falcon Fete 2022 introduced AdU-Capella, an online contest aimed to promote Adamsonians' talents in music, while Whatchu Gonn-AdU encourages Adamsonians to unleash their creativity through cosplay.

According to Ronald Faduga, AUSG Vice President for Internal Affairs and the event’s head, this year’s Falcon Fete aimed to build up the spirit of true Adamsonians.

“First of all, Falcon Fete is part of being Adamsonian, para bang hindi mo ramdam ang pagiging Adamsonian if throughout your years in the university ay di mo na-experience maging part ng activity,” he said.

He added that this event featured students' talents and served as a short break from studying.

“Second reason is to continue the showcase of Adamsonians' unique talents and skills. Third, is a short escape from our academics,” he added.

Faduga shared that the committee felt mixed emotions during the event due to the anticipation.

“Siguro, there are mixed emotions like kaba, excited, and happy because finally, it will happen na. During the event, all of us are focused, may kanya-kanya kaming roles but at the same time chillax pa rin naman,” he said.

Despite the event’s success, he shared that they still experienced challenges from the event's preparations.

“We had difficulties in finding individuals who are willing to be part of the Falcon Fete committee… Finding sponsors and bands, especially in this period of campaign for the election where most artists are present in rallies… Lastly, the new setup, it's really difficult to prepare virtually,” he added.

Meanwhile, AABC ft. DJ, who won the AdU-Capella, said it was challenging and overwhelming at the same time as they wanted their performance to be remarkable before they graduate.

“The fact that it was an acapella is already a challenge since we needed to be creative to make the most out of our voices to form a harmony from the musical arrangement, recordings, revisions, editing to video shoots just to make it as excellent as we can in a short period of time,” they said.

They also shared their overall experience as they won the competition.

“It feels overwhelming to win, especially when you have invested your time, effort, and self to create a work of art, yet, the goal was to create music, to make an impact, to influence and inspire the audience,” they added.

On the other hand, Mar Manuel, a Physical Education student and the Whatchu Gonn-AdU champion, said that the contest was an opportunity and training to enhance his skills and talents.

“My reason for joining the competition is simply to support the AUSG activity; at the same time, this is where my talents and skills are being highlighted. I'm contributing through support in the AUSG,” he said.

However, Manuel expressed his disappointment, believing that every contestant should be recognized and given equal opportunity.

“I was disappointed after the announcements were made. I felt sad because only the champions were recognized and acknowledged,” he said..

“I believe that regardless of the ranking and places of each participant, they should still be acknowledged for participating, joining, and exerting effort in the contest, but unfortunately, it doesn’t happen,” he added.

During the event, AUSG filled their event with the performances of their lead performer, singer-songwriter TJ Monterde, as well as the other performers, namely AUDEX dance troupe, UPEEPZ dance team, singer-composer Joshua Ronett, HIMIG of Adamson University, and We Prefer Chinitas.
