The webinar was aimed at helping students and aspiring media practitioners to develop skills and creativity in pursuing a career in media, according to the invitation posted in AdU’s Facebook page.

Communication Department professors and key speakers Prof. Glenn Ace Parungao and Prof. Argyll Cyrus Geducos shared their experiences and insights in political reporting and mobile journalism as media professionals themselves.

They also talked about the equipment they use in the work setup during the pandemic, and informed the attendees on programs AdU is offering related to media and journalism.

Fourth year college student and aspiring media practitioner France Matunan shared her learnings from the webinar in an interview.

According to her, the webinar helped her acquire a more in-depth understanding of the reality that media practitioners and journalists face.

“As an aspiring media practitioner myself, I am aware of the corruption and adulteration that exist in the industry, but having heard the sentiments of Sir Glenn and Sir Argyll regarding their experiences in the field really opened my eyes that the wrongfulness in the industry is something vaster than we could imagine,” she said.

Matunan likewise stated that the topics discussed in the webinar were “very important” especially in a time when journalism is “even harder [than] it ever was.”

“A lot of journalists in the country have been killed and a lot of them are still being silenced by means of bribery and murder. Creating spaces like webinars and [academics] allows us to discuss matters like this and it is really crucial especially in times like this where a lot of cruelty and deception exist in our country,” she added.

First year Communication student Aaron Sabile stated that the webinar was relevant in terms of using modern innovations in the field of Journalism.

“The webinar also [paved the way for me] to learn new things about journalism in these modern times,” he said.

The webinar was open to everyone interested in participating, inside and outside the Adamson community.
