The Adamson Community raised their concerns as Adamson University (AdU) recently announced the mandatory use of Respondus Lockdown Browser for the Preliminary Exams.
Respondus is a third party software intended to ensure the integrity of the examinations.
After installing Respondus, some students claimed that they encountered issues such as Google Chrome malfunctions, errors, and file deletions.
Respondus is also said to be requiring those who install it to disable their firewall and antivirus softwares, which also raises privacy and security concerns.
In light of these, Adamsonians are hesitating to take the risk of installing the application.

The AdU Center for Innovative Learning (AdU-CIL) debunked the malfunction issues on the students’ personal computers or laptops.
“There has never been a situation where Respondus has distributed a version of LockDown Browser that has a virus/malware attached to it, nor does LockDown Browser 'destroy' students' computers,” the CIL advisory stated.
AdU-CIL also claimed that the malfunction issue was "unlikely an issue with Lockdown Browser itself."
Due to the student's concerns, the AdU College of Nursing has already announced that Respondus will be temporarily disabled on all preliminary exams.
Meanwhile, the Adamson University Student Government (AUSG) assured the AdU Community that they are taking steps to communicate with offices concerned with this issue.
“We’re currently taking appropriate actions to resolve the said concern,” AUSG added.
