Adamson-'yan!: Adamsonians Preserving Camaraderie Amidst the Pandemic

Despite the challenge to stay optimistic during these trying times, the students of Adamson University know when to lend a helping hand. It's as if the nature of altruistic acts is inflicted upon the hearts of these students through St. Vincent de Paul's values and teachings.

These selfless acts of kindness, although present even before, are pumped to the max on the onslaught of the pandemic.

In the interest of funding the school's programs and supporting its scholars, the university held a virtual concert, AdU Cherish You, in partnership with the live-streaming app KUMU showcasing a wide variety of musical talents.

With the overflowing tender the Adamsonians have for their fellow klasmeyts, they still have more to offer. One of the notable charitable acts of the university is the assistance lent to Ax Valerio, a fellow klasmeyt who went viral for his hard work as a working student. The 21-year-old received learning materials from Adamson’s administrators to aid his online learning in return for his hard work and passion for studying.

The viral third-year Communication student was seen in a parked motorcycle along the sidewalk, wearing his work uniform while attending his online class using his mobile phone under the heat of the sun.

Under this heart-warming prevalence, it has been a year since the school conducted feeding programs for the struggling street dwellers and the most affected ones by the pandemic. The program was created with the aim to infect the community with charitable acts in the battle of this global crisis.

As Filipinos combat this virus war where many of us are getting bored inside our comfortable spaces, many of our fellow Filipinos are struggling with hunger and worried to look for shelter, food, and basic necessities. It is with a delighted heart that the university never forgets to show concern, love, and compassion for those who have less.

From feeding 300 street dwellers, the project has reached 600 in numbers and is continuously improving as donors, sponsors, and staff started to pour in.

During last year’s ECQ, the program was spearheaded by university priests, parish staff, and school athletes who were distributing meals on a daily basis. Today, its volunteer family has grown almost twice the size, with university employees, administrators, faculty, and even alumni volunteering to this good deed of their institution.

Regardless of the uncertainties brought by the pandemic, the innate kindness of Adamsonians truly prospered on behalf of its generosity and a special love for the poor and their neighbors.

In today's time, where there is no better assurance to an eternal happiness than by becoming a provider in the service of the poor, we can only find peace among ourselves fulfilling our purposes in life which our Klasmeyts successfully did through St. Vincent de Paul’s faith and guidance.
