It’s that time of the month again and we are already planning on how to say the three magic words—I love you. Why do we plan this anyway? Is it because we want to confess to someone special? Don’t we say it enough? Do we mean it when we say it? Whatever the answer is, the word “love” shouldn’t ever be taken for granted.
Every 28th of October, we celebrate the National “I Love You” Day. It started in 2015 where a filmmaker created a hashtag for his movie entitled “Everyday I Love You” which made over 16 million pesos on the first day and received a lot of good reviews. Although the movie did not meet the US standards for its level of stardom, its official hashtag reached millions making it an advocate of these three magic words and its power. Ever since it became a special occasion, on every 28th of October, everyone is encouraged to say “I love you” personally or they can opt to send gift cards and handwritten letters.
Though we are encouraged to tell people that we love them face to face, now that we are in a new normal setup, that is just something we cannot do considering the safety protocols. But, since these words mean a lot to people, we will always find a way to say them even without it coming out from our mouths. Start by sending them flowers with a notecard that contains how much they mean to you or record a video of you singing your favorite song and do a little dance. And of course, this day can also be considered as another Valentine’s Day —chocolates are always appreciated.
With or without an occasion, whether it be National “I Love You” Day or not, the biggest effort of actually saying it is letting that person feel you love them every single day. And when this occasion comes again, it wouldn’t feel as if it’s a special day because that person already got what they deserve in the first place.
What are you waiting for? Three words is all it takes.
