A Decade of Unity

When you hear Zoom reactions instead of loud cheers, that’s when you know a special day has officially begun. Adamson University's Communication Department held the first virtual set up for their anticipated annual department-wide celebration, entitled: aTEN ‘to: COMM Day 2021 last April 24.

Attended by Communication students, including current and previous faculty members, alumni, and the department’s Dean all gathered to celebrate the department’s 10th-year anniversary.

COMM Day went on with its awesome surprises. The students shared laughter while playing games against one another. The COMMunity also witnessed an out-of-the-box performance by former and current G-Circle members, that earned tons of upbeat reactions.

Students likewise got to learn fun facts and quirks about their professors, revealing their “sTENlist”—a wordplay on the term “stan list, paying homage to their contributions in the department.

All these fun and games were not without struggles, as the department chairperson, Ms. Ailene U. Ayson, explained that it was challenging to handle the event virtually. She reminisced about the smiling faces of students when the celebration was still held face-to-face.

“The real-time excitement and face-to-face reactions are more heartfelt and fun compared to an online setup,” she recalled.

Looking at the support of students and faculty members who celebrated this much-awaited event, it was clear that it was a great celebration of the department’s decade of unwavering commitment to quality education.

And with the pandemic going on, unity is definitely what COMMunity needs, especially on their special day. As its official hashtag always says “#aTEN ‘to,” it was and always will be a perfect moment for Communication students to claim.
