Adamson University (AdU) announced the conclusion of the 2nd semester on May 16 in an advisory released on its Facebook page last April 13, due to the COVID-19 threat and extension of the Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
As stated in the advisory, the administration's decision to end the semester "without further on-campus, face-to-face meetings after April 30, 2020," is to prioritize the health and safety of the Adamson Community.
In line with this, the administration provided a revised academic calendar to carry out the rest of the semester via online activities.
To officially end the semester, professors are expected to upload lectures and online activities until April 30 while the students are expected to submit their course requirements from May 1 to 24.
Notification of grades or status of compliance will also be given from May 25 to 29 through the university's Learning Management System (LMS).
The advisory likewise provided guidelines relevant to the student's academic credits for this semester.
Putting in consideration the gaps in online learning of the students due to the ECQ, the university will only assign the grades of PASS (P) to those who will satisfactorily fulfill the course requirements or INC (150) to those who are unable to meet the course requirements by May 24.
Moreover, a grade of INC in a pre-requisite subject shall still qualify a student to enroll in its subsequent courses with a compliance period of one year. Failure to comply within the period will restrict the student to enroll in the succeeding subjects.
In addition, grades received during this semester will not be included in the General Weighted Average (GWA) computation for scholarships and Latin honors.
Thesis defenses that are limited to paper presentation will also be fulfilled online, with an agreement between panelists and students. Meanwhile, theses that require prototypes or outputs are to be defended face-to-face with the panelists.
The advisory also sets graduation in October 2020, provided that graduating students finish their defense and comply with graduation requirements two weeks before the said date.
Graduating students under programs that require licensure examinations are also required to attend enrichment classes before the graduation. Non-graduating students are likewise encouraged to attend said classes scheduled on the 1st semester of A.Y. 2020-2021.
Additionally, refund on selected miscellaneous fees will be distributed, including appropriate rebates on the usage of laboratories and tutorial fees. The adjusted assessment and refund credits are expected to reflect through LMS in the first week of May.
Matters regarding additional guidelines on rebates and professional school programs are to be announced by concerning offices.
