The COMMunity battled it out once again as the Creative Communicators Society of Adamson University (CreaCommS) conducted “Game of Comms” at the Media Center, February 8.
Game of Comms is CreaCommS’ annual academic event where participants engage in two rounds of quiz bees and a debate regarding communication theories and current events.
Participants from all year levels of Communication students took part in the competition comprising four (4) categories; the easy round, moderate, pre-speak which will give the competitors a glimpse of what they will do on the final round which is the debate proper.
The easy and moderate rounds of the quiz bee proper included lessons and topics from Media Laws and Ethics, Communication Theories, and Communication Media.
From the 17 representatives at the beginning of the game, only 12 made it to the moderate round where they were grouped into four groups with three members each group.
The debate proper was judged by Communication Department faculty member Mr. Mark Fernando, who is also a Political Affairs Officer of the President under Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and Mr. Justine Marcelo, Vice President-Internal of the Adamson University Student Government (AUSG).
Charmaine Navoa, Myra Remolacio, and Hannah Disalongan stood as the members of the Government side. The opposition was represented by Chrizia Paras, Mervin Lopez, and Ced Ventanilla.
The issue tackled was the initiative of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in implementing Foreign Language courses to universities and colleges.
After the exchange of thoughts, ideas, and points of both parties, the government side made their 1st runner up finish, while the opposition panel was hailed as the Game of Comms 2020 Champions with both teams receiving monetary and medal rewards.
The winning team will represent the Communication Department at Debato 2020 this March.
