Chairperson of Communication Department Ms. Ailene U. Ayson announced during the general assembly held last Friday, August 23, that grade retention will start next academic year 2020-2021.
According to the new policy, the General Weighted Average (GWA) of the students should not fall lower than the target grade each end of the semester.
Failing to reach the maintaining mark, scholars will be given three chances to stay with their college course and will automatically be put on probation status.
After reaching the limit, students will be forced to shift and find a new program or maintain their course and find a new school.
Retention will only affect the first, second and third year communication students who are currently using the 2018 academic curriculum on the following year.
Meanwhile, third and fourth year students at this moment that are still using the old program will be spared from the said policy.
The department is currently following the university’s standard grading system, zero-based and 70% (3.0 in GWA) passing mark.
