CULTIV8: Making a COMM-Unity


The Communication Department of Adamson University (AdU) held its eighth General Assembly with a theme: “Cultiv 8 – Talent, Skills, Character” at the AdU Theater last September 5, 2018.

The assembly started with a thanksgiving mass officiated by Rev. Fr. William Azul D. Encelan, CM. who in his homily mentioned Coco Martin who was seen shooting a portion of his top rating show “Ang Probinsyano” inside the school premises.

Fr. Encelan then emphasized among the mass communication students the importance of general assembly especially to all the new students of the university.

Right after the mass, the main event of the assembly began by hosts Razelle Jane Mantala and Rowelyn Bachoco who then introduced the G-Circle Dancers and G-Circle Singers that rendered their high intensity numbers which made the teachers, students, and guests all excited and pumped up.

Communication professors Mr. Joel Zaporteza and Chairperson of the Communication Department Ms. Ailene Ayson spearheaded the opening remarks and discussed the school's guidelines, such as wearing of school ID inside the campus, hair color policy, the consultation time of professors, and the examination schedule, respectively.

Intermission numbers from G-Queens and G-Circle Acoustics then followed and was met with loud cheers and appreciation from the audience.

Thereafter, the professors of Communication Department together with Dra. Gliceria Lunag, Dean of College of Liberal Arts, presented awards to the winners in PodCon and those who were able to present their research paper locally and internationally.

Academic awardees were also bestowed to the “Top 10 Communication Students” led by the first-ranked Ghenrie Lazaga, who posted an average of 1.381, followed by Razelle Jane Mantala, Rica Victoriano, Ana Patricia Frias, Ellaine Hubilla, Ernelyn Sida, Aldrich Maru Dabao, Bettina Mierelle Tan, Alisa Lachica and Mary Jane Manalili.

Each organization of the department then introduced their members, first, the Creative Communicators Society of Adamson University led by their adviser, Mr. Joel Zaporteza, performed a dance number followed by the Falcon Radio Station whose new members rendered a lively number, and last but not the least, the Komunikator who as well sang and danced with their adviser, Ms. Jennylyn Calimon.

Before the assembly ended, Dra. Gliceria Lunag gave her closing remarks and acknowledged that the students of communication are all talented and thus encouraged them to pursue their dreams and give their best in everything that they do in order to excel in their respective fields and career.
