ENTHUSIASM ON THEIR FACES – Amidst the torrential rain, freshmen and transferees gathered in designated areas of Adamson University for this year’s “Tatak Adamson” held last August 31, 2018.
As part of this year’s theme “PASINAYAAN 2018”, AdU cordially welcomed its new purveyors of Vincentian spirit together with other fun-filled activities such as the “Welcome Concert”, “Student Organization Activation Recruitment”, and the highlight of the welcome week, “Tatak Adamson”.
The yearly fete was initially conducted with various performances spearheaded by the Adamson Cast and a representative from Tinik ng Teatro, followed by the opening remarks of Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, CM. Different colleges were assigned in respective areas whereas follows; College of Nursing and College of Pharmacy were grouped in ST Driveway, College of Architecture is in front of Adu Theater, College of Business Administration is in front of FRC Bldg., College of Engineering is assigned in Meralco Ground, and lastly, our very own College of Education and Liberal Arts and the College of Science were designated in ST Quadrangle.
New batch of students were marked by the AUSG officers and RSO presidents with white-painted handprint at the back of their navy blue shirt symbolizing the start of their genuine Vincentian identity. Meanwhile, the pledge-taking was led by the AUSG President Nico Mercado. The annual initiation rite was seen as their new chapter in life as an Adamsonian which they will carry for the rest of their college years and once they start their own future endeavors.
Ferl Gasmido, a current freshman communication student, expressed her insights about Tatak Adamson. “To experience new things, as a frosh, hindi pa namin alam ang mga kalakaran dito. We are also looking forward sa mga experiences na maibabahagi ng mga higher years.”, (To experience new things, as a frosh, we still don’t know how things run in this university. We are also looking forward on the experiences that higher years would share with us.) when asked about her expectations to the event. She also mentioned that occasions like this really help them to get even more united with fellow Adamsonians and treat each other as one family. Her friend, Charlotte Pacoma, also shared her stance, “My expectation in this event is to have a memorable party – in a way I could celebrate it without any limits or boundaries.” She also said that Tatak Adamson helps them to be more familiar with the culture of being an Adamsonian and its true values.
In a transferee’s perspective, Anne Soreta, from BS Psychology, also stated her opinion on how she’d embody the Vincentian spirit. “When I first got in to Adamson, welcoming na. Hindi siya katulad ng ibang schools na mahihiya kang pumasok. Dito napaka-friendly and masaya. Hindi ako nagsisi na lumipat ako dito and naisasabuhay ko ang pagiging Adamsonian ko as person na pala-kaibigan, masunurin sa mga professors, pagiging charitable., etc.” (It was very welcoming when I got accepted here in AdU. It’s unlikely that you’d feel shy upon entering this school because Adamson has an amicable atmosphere. I didn’t regret in transferring here and I think I can show my true spirit of an Adamsonian by being friendly, courteous and diligent to our professors, and being charitable) said Anne.
Coined as one of the pivotal events in Adamsonian community, a euphoric atmosphere was visibly seen during the event despite the pouring rain. For some, it was considered as the most exciting part of the annual tradition while others despise the exasperating weather condition. But on a brighter note, these new breed of Falcons will surely soar high not only in their college years but also outside the realms of Adamson University.
