Communication Department Professor Joel Zaporteza announced last Friday, July 7, that there will be a retention policy beginning first semester next school year.

"GWA (General Weighted Average) should not fall lower than 2.25. That's the retention policy," the college instructor said.

"Regardless of whether is the combination of general subjects or professional subjects," he added.

The department is currently following the university’s grading system, zero-base and 70% (3.0 in GWA) passing mark.

If the new policy is implemented, students should reach the 79% passing grade, same with the nursing students, per semester.

In case drop lower than 2.25 for the first time, students will automatically put on probation status. After second time under probation, students are forced to shift and find a new course.

Students under the department have one year to prepare for the said policy.
